PAST EXHIBITIONS / TYPOGRAPHIC TREE
Interactive media installation by Digit
JULY 11 SEPTEMBER 2002
The current medialounge exhibition 'Typographic
Tree' is the result of exploratory work by the award winning digit
team. Formally known as 'digit feed' this collective non-commercial
practise empowers digit's designers and programmers to expand
the territory of interactive media.
Typographic Tree is the first part of the ongoing
FEED project which aims to explore perceived ideas of information
'Feed' [input and output] between humans and computers. Typographic
Tree is set in a pseudo naturalistic environment. A small signpost
invites users to sing to mushrooms which sit on top of a 5' tree
stump. As soon as a visitor begins, a tree begins to grow [see
image top right]. Using nothing but the tone and volume of their
voice they can control every aspect of the trees growth. It's
size, complexity, colour and even the amount of flowers in bloom.
