The Digital Research Unit opened officially the 17th of October 2002. The opening coincided with a Media Lounge Night event where Tom Betts introduced his qqq project, commissioned by DRU, ixi introduced their research project at the DRU and then the evening ended with concerts and dj'ing from ixi members and the Vector collective from Leeds.
